Online Education Option
Jordan Public Schools will offer a fully online enrollment option for K-12 families of our district through Minnesota Virtual Academy (MNVA), while maintaining state enrollment at Jordan Public Schools.
Although students will remain officially enrolled at Jordan Public Schools, students registered in MNVA will follow MNVA online learning policies, academic calendars, grading, curriculum, procedures, etc.
This collaborative program with MNVA will be available for both semester one and semester two of the school year, offering a full-time curriculum with “live” online teaching of MDE approved courses for all grades K through 12.
Students will attend school through MNVA each day and work with MNVA teachers to complete learning activities in real time and asynchronously by video conferencing and personal tutorials. Teacher-led and independent assignments will focus on the same standards as students attending on-site through Jordan Public Schools. However, the specific curriculum and delivery is adapted to help students succeed in an online environment. Although the teaching is at a “distance,” MNVA’s goal is that all students will be stimulated and actively engaged to learn as well as he or she can be.

Student Devices
MNVA students will be provided a Chromebook from Jordan Public Schools; students must follow all Jordan tech policies.
Feedback
Lessons and assignments designed to give students smaller, more regular targeted feedback.
Daily Class Hours
All classes will have regular class hours for “live” instruction or tutorial assistance following MNVA’s determined schedule.
Virtual Interaction
Daily online interaction between peers and instructors. For example, morning meetings at the elementary school.
Online Help
Technical support during school hours both online and by phone is available from your home district and from MNVA.
Succeeding in MNVA Online
Student Success
- Students can complete online assignments on the provided device through Jordan Public Schools. If assistive technology is needed, please advise your home district or MNVA.
- Students can and will seek assistance when needed from MNVA staff.
Student Expectations
- Students will engage daily in virtual courses and should participate in class discussions and timely respond to instructions of the teacher.
- Students will submit work based on due dates and guidance made by the teacher.
- Just as in any regular class, students should expect some “homework” assignments, that is, tasks to complete outside of regular classroom hours.
Parent / Guardian Expectations
- Ensure their student(s) has the necessary equipment and internet access to participate.
- Help their student(s) follow an assigned schedule each day.
- Encourage their student(s) to seek help when stuck or frustrated.
- Communicate concerns with instructors as needed.
- Use the Parent/Guardian online tools to help your student and keep informed.
At-Home and Technology
- Students will use a device and other necessary learning materials provided or required by the district.
- MNVA, with the support of your home district, will provide technical support online and by phone.
- Families without internet access can request a Wi-Fi hotspot from their home district to use for online learning.
- MNVA and Jordan Public Schools do NOT provide home printers, ink, etc. for students.
Attendance & Course Completion
- Students are expected to attend every scheduled school day just like regular school
- Just like regular school, parents/guardians must report excused absences to the online school (MNVA) using an online application, phone call, or text message.
- Teachers will record attendance.
- Virtual students must complete course requirements to receive grades, credit, and advancement.
